Unit 3

Musical Theatre

Working on"Cinema Italiano" from 'Nine' the musical.
For musical theatre workshop our jazz teacher introduced us to the song cinema Italiano from 9 to musical.

My first impression of the song was that it was Sassy very upbeat and could be difficult to learn because the singer sings very fast.

Or just teacher had a sit down and select lines that we wanted to sing my lines.
“Those scenes I love to see
from Guido’s POV
there’s no one else with unique director’s vision.”

This lining I feel it’s a bit of a tongue twister when saying “unique directors vision” I hope I will overcome this issue and be able to perform it.

Are jazz teacher later on taught us the routine for the first couple of lines.
This routine starts of very sassy and if done correctly looks very nice I am very comfortable with that song selected and comfortable with the routine I feel I will have no issues later on.

When learning the routine our teacher first separated out into threes and taught us In our groups what to do. This meant that whilst one group is learning to move the rest had time to go over the view that they had learnt already. I feel like this new experience is useful for when learning group numbers in professional and future experiences.

I look forward to learning the rest of the routine.

For this lesson of musical theatre we were given the challenge to add on extra steps without guidance from our jazz teacher. This was honestly a challenge but after having so help for the second year dancers we figured it out. I feel that what we added fit well with the dance and i didn't have to feel nervous about our teacher's reaction. As a group considering that its not everyone's style of dancing we performed it well.

For this lesson of musical theatre after showing our jazz teacher, who was very impressed with our progress we continued learning the rest of the sequence. When working on my solo felt that it was

One of the notes our peers had given us was that we had to use our hips more in the introduction. So I made sure I noted this for our performance.

This was our first performance we did with just voices without the singer accompanying our vocals.
I feel like as an assemble our confidence was  dimmed down because we had attention and felt pressure. And this was shown in the video.

But the confidence was bought back when singing together.

                                                       OUR FINAL PERFORMANCE !!

The performance made me feel a little less nervous because i knew all the steps and words. Our last rehearsal defiantly made me feel more confident.
What surprised was my projection in vocals.

What i thought my facial expressions went well because it stayed in role and related to the theme just as practised. However i need to improve my concentration because i kept on thinking about the audiences' opinion.

The performance as well as a group went really well but i feel like it was a bit obvious to see that theme didn't really work for some people.Though one person messed up well all kept the same energy and focus to keep the performance energy for everyone.

Project Workshop

To do this our tutor Shelley put us into a pair and with the pair we had to think of for protest like movements to the background music.

In this video or tutor Shelley had us combine the 4 moments we had done in our pairs with another two. Our other two was Tila and Leah. I suggested that we watch each other's performances and pick choose our favourites.
We decide to settle with the mines poster waves and stomping. From Leah and Tilia's peace we choose the the pointing and the ground movements.
Overall i suggested that we have a part to do as if were chained together.

In this video our tutor had the idea of combining our 4 group peace with another groups. Being Sona, Ella, Ghazal and Faith who is a second year dancer. Shelley suggested that they start behind us and then we combine our pieces.

...................................................................................................................................................................

Today we worked on adding our protest slogans and our transitions. Mine was " Animals aren't for entertainment".

In these video we are adding in new adjustments and filling spaces in our peace.

 ...............................................................................................................

In this video we are rehearsing our solos or duets. I had to quickly prepare a solo based on my movement. I felt to keep the idea of "Animal aren't meant for entertainment" key in this piece.

OUR FINAL PERFORMANCE !!

The overall performance made me feel as if our peace was memorable and delivered a strong message. Though I didn't deliver my facial expression as well as I rehearsed it and speed up my solo I felt that as a group we delivered it well.

Visiting the national theatre.
