BALLET

First Ballet Lesson
In our first ballet lesson our teacher Mandy separated us into two group experienced vs experienced, this for me was a bit taunting because i felt as if was going to be judged as i have obviously have not done ballet but then i was to learn that that wasn't necessary because a lot of my class members were in the same position and that we as a class was going to develop.
this taught me that in the future i should be with not being a professional when going for auditions and new classes.

anyways...she then had the experienced go into another room and learn a quick routine that the second year dancers new whilst we the non experienced learned the basic arm gestures example first position in front of the mirror trying to avoid looking at our feet.
once the others returned and we they're attempt of the routine i learn that not everyone's perfect and were all in the same position, our teacher had us go find a place on the bar but we had to be next to an experienced person so we could compare and copy them when needed.
once we'd done this we then had on over our feet positions and learnt a new word called "pilte"meaning bend in french.
one note i personally had to take was to not look at my feet, stick out my bum and relax my shoulders.

we learnt that from the plie we can do it in second position but our feet cant leave the floor.

Rules of ballet

in this lesson we had to learn the rules of the dance studio when doing ballet for example we had to learn the importance of the "Barre" this means Bar in English. The use of the Barre is to support your basic technique for things like your plies.
we are to always towards the bar and when using a leg use the one furthest from it for technical purposes.
and always have your arm resting on the barre so its not too far.

Centre Practice was another this was for your practices without using a Barre focusing on your balance and focus this is useful for things like the Petit and Grande Allegro which a jump that focuses on switching ("le changment") of the feet being in second position.this move requires a Barre for beginners like me to find the strength to do it without.i feel that this important to know this information when entry any course that will have me doing ballet.

you have to bring out your leg in turn out and then bring it back in but keeping your body straight and then the same side wards, keeping you shoulders relaxed and then lastly backwards.we in the class call this the pizza because its like cutting out pizzas.

JAZZ

For jazz our normal teacher wasn't in so as a cover we had Tracy come in and teach us a choreography . The choreography she taught us was the dance for Beyonce's video " who run the world". This dance was one of my favourite choreography because it was more of my style of dancing.

For this lesson we learn't a fast choreography to give us an idea of what auditions in the future will be like. Although i had a basic idea of what the moves were and the speed needed, it was obvious that  i need help and progress in being able to pick up dances.

For this lesson we learn't how to jazz spins and pointed toes in four beats.

Researched Jazz choreographer: Abbey Lee Miller

Abbey grow up in the suburb, studying under her mother's direction at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller eventually took over the studio in 1995 and renamed it Reign Dance Productions.

RESEARCHED  CHOREOGRAPHER PICTURE COMING SOON...

For jazz we do physical warm ups to prepare our body. Especially by doing push ups and planks to  strengthen the core and upper body strength. We also do stretches to improve flexibility. However our warm ups also include practising our flat backs and jazz fourths.

ACTING

MADEA!

The performance made me feel very nervous as i struggled with remember my words and how to say them making break out of character. i felt that i could perform it better if i rehearsed it more. What i thought the way i approached the stage and started went well.

The performance as well as a group went really well, everyone was able to continue and perform well afterwards making me more comfortable after.

MONOLOGUES

For acting we started reading the monologue from Anne Franks Diary.
From reading this i found that there's areas that she changes her expression and tone in voice.

We read through an extract from 'The Diary of Anne Frank' and looked at Emotional Memory, created by a man named Stan Islavski. He introduced this whole system to make acting more alive on stage. You have to think about a time where you relate to your characters emotions. We spoke about how this can also be quiet dangerous if you let it go into your personal life off stage. For example, Heith Ledger played the joker and in order to play the joker effectively he wouldn't sleep and he eventually drove himself mad and killed himself.

We experimented with emotional memory using the text. I read out the line " I think the world is going through as phase, the way i was with my mother". I related this because i feel like me and my mum are going through a phase of arguing that i think would phase.

 ..................................................................................................................................................................

After  weeks of preparing for our monologues we sat down and wrote notes of how it should be performed then we reviewed each other.

After receiving this review i defiantly adjusted the way i performed the monologue.
